Introducing Myself To Me

When you look into the mirror and say the words Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…..Do you recognize the person looking back at you or are you just seeing a shell of someone you used to know?

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall….. We all recognize the question from the fairy tale Snow White.  When you look into the mirror and say the words Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…..Do you recognize the person looking back at you or are you just seeing a shell of someone you used to know?  This might be a time when we need to introduce yourself to you.  Life has bogged us down between work, family, and outside commitments.  Somewhere along the way, we lost ourselves; our hope, dreams, and aspirations have dwindled to a bit of a flicker.  For others, the flame is completely diminished, and when we look in that mirror, all we see is a big question mark covering our face.  In order to bring back that person who was passionate about their dreams and goals, we have to change our mindset and have a complete internal makeover.  It starts with facing those pains and challenges in our lives that, over the years, have literally squeezed the energy out of us physically, mentally, and emotionally.  This will be the most challenging step because you not only have to face those pains and challenges, but you have to change the narrative from negative to positive.  Once you do this, it will free your spirit up.  Now don't get me wrong, it's going to be ugly!  You might yell, scream, curse, pray and even do the ugly cry, but you have to find a healthy way to release all the negative pain and challenges that keep you hostage.

Second, you have to begin encouraging yourself.  Using your I AM Statements.  When you get ready to walk into a room, you might have to say to yourself; I can do this.  I am qualified.  I AM Enough!  Giving self-affirmation allows you to internally build up your confidence and belief in yourself and the skill sets you offer.  Third, intentionally walk with your head high and shoulders back with confidence.  You must be intentional about this and remind yourself of when you begin to walk in a subservient posture.  This is a constant struggle because there are days when you are just not feeling it, but even though you can't get out your I AM Statement, your body posture can internally energize you and give you the jumpstart to verbalize your I AM Statement.

Research says that it takes 21 days to change behavior.  People get intimidated when they hear this (21 days) because that negative narrative pops up and tells us that 21 days is a long time.  We cannot focus on the timeframe but focus on the process.  If you miss a day, it's okay; pick it up as soon as you remember (morning, noon, bedtime, in the middle of the night).  You can say your I AM Statement out loud or internally; continue reaffirming yourself.  This process allows you to begin to actively Walk In Your Purpose.  As your confidence grows, you understand that your unique talents, skills, and attributes are the foundation of your purpose.  So, as you actively Walk In Your Purpose, hold your head up high, look in the mirror and say Mirror, Mirror on the Wall… I AM Enough because I AM Walking In My Purpose.

What pain or challenge do you need to face to bring back that person who was passionate about your dreams and goals?

Commit to reaffirming yourself with your I AM Statement for five days, then reflect and begin the process again.
