The Need to Make a Move
Sometimes there is just a need to move. It is not planned, but circumstances arise that you have no control over. You are comfortable in your current situation and functioning in your own routine. However, let the truth be told, deep down, you know you need to be pursuing new beginnings (your goals and dreams) you have pushed to the back burner. It’s just much easier to be content. However, to grow physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally you have to move forward from your current situation. You must put aside your fears of uncertainty, take action, get moving, and challenge yourself. To truly understand yourself (talents, skills, and attributes) and your purpose, you need to make a move.
The first move is the hardest, and it’s the moment you are willing to decide to be uncomfortable, scared, and alone. The second move you make should be one of restlessness. When you get to the point that you begin to feel bored of the same routines, what use to give you joy, fullness, and passion has now become dull and stale, which is a sign that you need to make a move. The third move is to begin all over again. You must challenge tranquility for the promise of something greater. I taught and coached middle school athletics for over 12 years. I remember when I first went into coaching, how excited I was. Being a former athlete in high school, I just knew I had finally found my purpose. I was afforded the opportunity to mentor young student-athletes, guiding them and motivating them to be the best they can be and have confidence in themselves. However, after ten years, I was going through the motions. It wasn’t until my husband shared with me that he noticed I had lost that sparkle and excitement in my eyes from coaching like I used to have. It was at that moment that I realized I needed to make a move. I had thought about going into administration but subconsciously, because of the unknown, I allowed fear to stop me from making that move.
What is it deep down that is telling you it’s time to make a move and begin to move towards those dreams, goals, and passions that use to engulf you?
